Hello Everyone, My usual Red Couch Ramblings & Store/Life News. :-)I’m excited for May and hopefully some sunshine soon! Our family enjoyed our Spring Break holiday to the mountains. April was busy being in the store and a few kids activities then we ended April off with a bang! It was our annual Spring Creative Makery last weekend at GSIB! A wonderful group of women brought all kinds of creative projects to work on. Scrapbooking (paper & digital), card making, watercolour travel journals, mixed media art and more! We had the Drop In Center to spread out with lots of room and shopping and meals in the store. The Rossburn Hotel made Saturday’s lunch for us, and ...
COVID-19 Gone Scrappin’ In Bloom Operations Update.I usually try to keep things positive on social media. But the struggles of being a small business owner in rural Manitoba can be challenging. Even more so now. Tough times call for tough decisions! As each hour/day of news unfolds, I have been very stressed over financial decisions, paying bills, if I can afford to keep my staff employed and continuing to meet the needs of my customers in a safe and healthy way.Unfortunately, it has been very quiet with walk in traffic in the store, which is very understandable and even great at helping to flatten the curve around our community. However, that being said I also needed to make hard ...
Kelly's Red Couch Ramblings... For some reason winter keeps trying to hold on. This week there has been a few flurries, but stubborn me has already pulled out my sandals. LOL! Our family is wrapping up the last kid in hockey this month and everyone is itching to get onto the baseball diamond. We enjoyed our time at Elkhorn Resort for Spring Break! I had so much fun hosting their Kids Crafts again! We are already making plans for next year! Then this past week, we held our final Home Routes Concert of the season! Hard to believe this coming fall will mark 10 years of being a volunteer host! We have hosted 60 concerts in our 9 years! Watch for our next season to start in October! Concert ...

The building is celebrating 80 years, though it was established in 1909!And I'm turning 40 in March! It is so hard to believe that at this time, 10 years ago, my maternity leave was coming to an end, I resigned from my marketing position and 100% dove into purchasing the store and business! I haven't looked back since!Needless to say it has been a whirlwind! Full of laughter, trials and tribulations. Lots of tears and ...
